Currently, the 1015 Commerce Avenue campus of The Source in Vero Beach operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, breakfast and lunch are served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the rest of the open hours, members are able to attend programs and utilize a long list of services offered to them as well as mingle with other community members. Starting Friday, May 1, The Source announces a change.
Expanding Access for Working Individuals and Families
“The rebranding of our building is simply expanding weekday hours and adjusted meal times for working individuals who may not have been able to make it to previous meal times," explains Anthony Zorbaugh, the Executive Director of The Source for over a decade.
“Adjusting to new hours accommodates families to come after work and school to enjoy a hot home-cooked, sit-down dinner and avail themselves of our showers or do laundry while the children finish up their assigned homework.”
Serving the Community with Greater Flexibility
According to The Source, the goal for these changes is to reward those who are working and taking the steps to get back on track. All meals are served to Indian River County residents who are registered members of The Source and enjoy a sit-down restaurant-style format with tablecloths and a variety of menu choices.
Saturday afternoon hours are for member families and for non-member families only with the referral of a partner agency. Any families residing in IRC who are not yet members and are interested in coming to the reSource Center, please check with one of our referring partners that will assist you in doing so.
To date these partners include Hope for Families, Homeless Children’s Foundation, Childcare Resources, United Against Poverty, and the School District of Indian River County. This May 1 change serves two different groups more comprehensively.
New Hours Beginning May 1, 2026
Breakfast: Monday–Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Dinner: Monday–Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Coffee & Donuts (Regular Members) Saturday & Sunday from 8 a.m. to Noon
Family Dinner: Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m
A Continued Commitment to Impact
Zorbaugh further explains, “We serve the most vulnerable in our community by offering housing, food, employment, and so much more to our registered members. We know that we have served our members wisely over time, and our record of success speaks loudly in the number of individuals that have moved on to fulfilling and dignified lives.”
The Source recognizes there are still local families raising children who are struggling with work and who need assistance. According to Linda Cutler, The Source’s Operations Director, “The staff is enthused about the new direction we are offering to local families who are already registered members and for those who would like to become members.”
Looking Ahead
Toni Moore, Culinary Director of The Source, has some exciting meal plan ideas as she and her kitchen staff prepare for the new family dinner hours.
“This is an incredible convenience for the families who are so busy with their work and school days and may not be eating healthy at their family dinner time. Plus, we all know how important being with your family and talking about your day is over dinner. This new plan will allow them that time together, good food, and the ability to get some personal chores done at the same time. We are planning some delicious hot meal options that will suit both the adults and the children.”
