Paying a nod to the British custom, “High Tea," The Source presented a “High Tea” event during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, November 12 for three dozen men and women.

The intimate event was held at Tarpon Island Clubhouse and hosted by supporters of The Source, Alice Conkey and Selma Caruso. In an effort to introduce new people to The Source, its mission, and its success in helping to eradicate homelessness in
Indian River County, the attendees were among a group of hand-picked individuals who have vast involvement in IRC nonprofits and had interest in learning first-hand about this nonprofit organization.
An Elegant Afternoon Gathering

Many dressed for the occasion, topped off with specialty flowered headwear and British fascinator hats, while they feasted on a combination of savory and sweet treats, tea sandwiches, and homemade scones.
It also included a selection of beverages including some bubbly and a pot of hot tea, all served on beautiful china dishes, with colorful antique cups and saucers.
Sharing Stories of Impact
The intimate event was highlighted with a presentation by Jonathan Orozco, Development Director of The Source.
The enlightening and compelling program, designed with a video, featured the images of the human side of homelessness in our community. Attendees heard success stories as well as testimonials from various members whose lives have been transformed by participating in the extensive array of programs and services offered to them from The Source.
Engaging the Community
Following the presentation and a question-and-answer period, the attendees were offered the opportunity to personally visit The Source facilities and offered an opportunity to host their own intimate gathering to introduce more community members to what The Source is all about and what happens each day behind the scenes.
Prize drawings were held thanks to donations from Riverside Theatre, Vero Beach Theatre Guild, MusicWorks Concerts, and the Space Coast Symphonic Orchestra. Table centerpieces, designed by hostess Selma Caruso, were also given away.
Acknowledgments & Contact
In addition to the two hostesses, a special thanks went to those who helped make the event possible, including Betty Armistead and Katherine Beeny.
