Three basic beliefs are demonstrated through The Source’s food-related programs and include:
*To use food as a tool to strengthen bodies physically and spiritually, empower minds, and build communities.
*To realize that people have an incredible capacity to transform their lives when they have the right tools and support.
*To provide real solutions and value to the community for long-term sustainability.
A Visible Expression of the Mission
One of the most visible food-related programs is that of Dignity Catering. Under the tutelage of an accomplished Head Chef and experienced Sous Chef, the culinary staff is supported by a number of registered members of The Source who are in professional training and those who have graduated from the Dining with Dignity program in preparation to acquire food-related employment within the community.
Custom Catering for Every Occasion
The Dignity Catering team offers a diverse menu of custom-made food to please any palette, including requests that meet ethnic, dietary, or religious guidelines.
Our service satisfies any business. organization or personal function from cocktails, sit-down dinners, or buffet-style meals.
The staff welcomes sit-down visits with potential customers to select the best food options for your individual events and can create a tailored menu that will include choices from Hot & Cold Appetizers, Salads, Specialty Displays, Luncheons and Dinner Entrees, Sides and Desserts.
The First Presbyterian Church Men’s Group is one example of an ongoing event where Dignity Catering provides breakfast for about two dozen men weekly. According to Glenn Conn, organizer of the event, “Working with the staff from The Source works out really well. They do a great job, and their featured dishes actually bring more people to the event. In addition to them cooking eggs any way you want, they also serve sides of meat, potatoes, fruit, and pastries, and sometimes they add in grits or waffles to the buffet. We greatly appreciate what The Source does for our group.”
More Than Just the Food
In addition to the mouth-watering food is the beautiful and enticing tablescape that the culinary team can provide, from an array of unique serving pieces to imaginative accessories or individually created ice sculptures that can identify a chosen theme and wow any crowd!
The Source is recognized by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation-Approved Program (ACFEF) for their Dining with Dignity Training Program.
The American Culinary Federation (ACF) is the largest professional chefs’ organization in North America for chefs and cooks and is based on promoting the professional image of American chefs worldwide through education of culinarians at all levels.
