Lauren’s Way
My name is Lauren Weaver. When I was in 2nd grade, I saw a homeless man sitting on a bench in the park downtown. Though only seven (7), this image of homelessness moved me to make a difference. With just an idea and all of my savings ($25), I approached my parents and asked for help in purchasing the man a Christmas present. With their matching gift and advice from The Source, we purchased daily hygiene items, socks and non perishable snacks and placed them in a shoe box. I wrapped the box in beautiful gold Christmas wrap and delivered it to the homeless man in the park. Based upon his reaction and true joy, this single gift became the project now known as Lauren’s Way.
