The Source Holds Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

Holy Cross Catholic Church was the location for The Source’s “Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon” held on Thursday, April 11.

The program, led by Linda Cutler, Volunteer and Program Coordinator for The Source, consisted of an opening prayer by Pastor Wayne Traverse, a video interviewing some of the volunteers, while a slide show profiled other volunteers handling their volunteer responsibilities. These jobs include meal preparation, program assistance, laundry services, bus detailing and distribution of clothing, to name just a few. Ms. Cutler shared that with over 100 volunteers associated with The Source they accumulated over 4,000 hours of volunteer service in one year and offered all her appreciation to them for all they do and to celebrate this, their day. In her closing special thanks were given to the luncheon sponsors, Holy Cross Catholic Church and Fourteen Bones Barbecue.

“Without you there, is no us,” Anthony Zorbaugh Executive Director of The Source shared with the audience of volunteers. “We cannot do all of this amazing work for our members without you. You make a difference by giving of your precious time and experience, and it means so very much to all of us.”

Appreciation Certificates and gift bags were handed out to each of the volunteers before the program concluded. Additionally, Ms. Cutler awarded the “Volunteer of The Year” plaque to Dennis Logan, who was referred to as “The Source Angel.” In response to the award Logan shared, I am just a normal everyday person. “We do what we can in life.”

Susan Johnson, one of the volunteers spoke eloquently in her video interview which was an open invitation to anyone thinking about volunteering. “For all of you senior citizens out there feeling bored with nothing to do, you can be productive and helpful by coming out and joining this group of volunteers at The Source.” For those interested in being a part of this group and organization, contact Linda Cutler at The Source, linda.cutler@iamthesource.org or call 772-564-0202 Ext 220.
