The people who come to The Source are our neighbors. They are someone’s daughter, son, mom, dad, sister, brother, friend, and sometimes an American Hero who has fought for our freedoms. Their days are overwhelmed with; “How will I eat?” “Where will I sleep? “Will I be safe?” Basic survival becomes their primary focus, which leaves little room for the motivation needed to improve their lives and become productive citizens. It is most certainly our responsibility and honor, as a family in Christ,to show them compassion and grace.
There are many ways in which we can turn compassion into action. Right now The Source is in great need of committed volunteers who have a heart for service to others. Volunteering your time and unique talents will make a profound difference in the lives of those in need and plays a vital role in maintaining our ministry. Here’s How You Can Help:
Reception
You are the face and voice of The Source. What an honor! This is where our relationship with each client begins. It is vital that the individual feels safe and welcomed as they walk through our doors or reach out by phone. You have a great opportunity to positively impact the lives of those in need by greeting visitors, answering phones, interacting with clients and participating in daily prayer and ministry.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday shifts: 9:00am to 1:00pm and 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Floor Ministry
Your mission field is in your home, work place, community, and here at The Source. Floor Ministry is an opportunity to share your faith in Jesus Christ and encourage those who are hurting and in need of compassion and relationship. A tangible relationship is a gift that allows these individuals to experience the love of God in a life changing way. Pastoral reference is required.
Monday - Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm Please contact Pastor George Lynch for more information.
Recovery Ministry
Addiction is a stronghold that afflicts many, for a variety of different reasons. None of us are immune. Whether it is drugs, alcohol, smoking, eating, working too much, or compulsions, an addiction has the ability to destroy a life and a family. We are committed to providing help to those who suffer from addiction through programs, classes, counseling, and God’s word, under the direction of our Recovery Director. As a volunteer in this area you will assist in talking to and counseling people with alcohol and drug problems. Volunteers giving of themselves to this part of our ministry should be born-again Christians with a 12-Step experience and at least 1 year of sobriety. Our own testimonies are powerful tools that can change lives; therefore, a willingness to share your experience, strength, and hope would be encouraged. Being available for 12-step phone calls is appreciated but not a must. Sponsor reference is required.
Monday – Saturday 9:00AM to 4:30PM Please contact Pastor George Lynch for more information.
Heaven Sent Thrift Shoppe (All proceeds benefit The Source)
Our new, high-end thrift store blesses this ministry in a variety of ways by providing monetary help as well as furnishings to those clients who are re-establishing a home. You will run the register, sort donations, arrange displays and perform light, routine cleaning as needed. (And shop of course! What a great way to give back! Purchase items you need at our Thrift Shoppe and you will be giving a donation without impacting your budget.)
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shifts: 10am-1pm and 1pm- 5pm.
Giving the Gift of Hope One Item at a Time
Those in need, who come to us for help, understand all necessities they receive are donated by caring individuals like you. We are ALWAYS in need of shoes, clothes, basic hygiene items, furniture, household items, diapers, formula, food, bug spray, bike lights, flashlights, batteries, blankets, backpacks, tarps, tents, etc. Donating items to The Source is a priceless gift!
Always
Receiving and Sorting Donations
We are blessed with donations that provide needed essentials to our clients, families in the area, and other ministries. Organizing and sorting donations is a great way for you to witness the needs of our clients first hand, and feel the blessings that come with distributing these items to those who seek our help.
Monday - Friday 9:00AM to 4:30PM
Donations Pick Up and Deliveries
Without donations we would be unable to provide our clients with basic essentials, therefore, a vital part of our ministry is donation pick-up and delivery. This service provides a great opportunity to educate our community about The Source. We are looking for volunteers who own a truck and would be willing to serve in this way. We ask that you be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Monday – Saturday 9:00AM to 4:30PM
Preparing and Serving Meals
The Source strives to provide healthy, well balanced, meals to all individuals and families who find themselves hungry. We are always in need of individuals and groups (Bible Studies, Sunday School classes, men and women groups, your neighborhood families) to prepare and serve meals on specific nights and during lunch time. Dishes you have made at home that volunteers can easily heat and serve on the weekends and in an emergency situation when those in need of a meal exceed what we have, are a gift and a blessing. For your convenience we will provide you and your group with the metal pans you may use to prepare the meal. Any homemade touches are also welcomed and appreciated.
Mon,Tue,Thur,Fri,10:30AM to 2:00PM (Lunch starts at 12:30) Sunday 11:30AM to 1:30PM
Building and Grounds Maintenance
As we all know, it feels good to pull into your driveway and have your lawn mowed and edged. Knowing your home is clean and organized can and does give you a great sense of peace and security, whether you realize it or not. Psychology 101 teaches us that we are a reflection of our surroundings and adapt accordingly to them. Our fellow neighbors who are hurting need a clean, maintained, safe place to lay their burdens and restore their strength. Each of us has been blessed with unique gifts. What is yours? Gardening, lawn care, landscaping, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, windows and doors, siding, IT services, mechanics, A/C, refrigeration, appliances, , concrete, tractor work, etc. We are ALWAYS in need of skilled volunteers who are willing to donate their time and talents.
At your Convenience
Administration
The possibilities here are endless. In a non-profit ministry, the work of many is shouldered by very few. We need committed volunteers who have been gifted with organizational skills and are detail oriented to help with filing, data entry, scanning, mailings, as well as any other duties needed to facilitate all that goes into maintaining our ministry. (Of course the best part of volunteering here is working alongside an amazing group of people who love God and know how to laugh.)
Monday-Saturday 9:00am-4:30pm
Please take a few moments to consider your talents and gifts. Your experience is of value to us! There are so many ways to get involved in our ministry and be a part of something that is literally changing the lives of those around you. Contact me personally at 772-564-0202 to share with us your volunteer gift.
