2012 National "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive

Picture 1 of 5

Many of our neighbors are going hungry. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, nearly 49 million Americans were facing hunger in 2011. Feeding America's most recent report showed an estimated 25,000 people were food insecure right here in our very own community, Indian River County.

On Saturday, May 12th, local food pantries joined forces in the largest food drive in the nation, the 20th annual Stamp Out Hunger postal food drive. Over 60,000 pounds of food were collected in Indian River County. Thanks to all who participated and supported the 2012 "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive.

This year's participants included: Indian River Food Pantry, Breath of Heaven Ministries, First Church of God, Harvest Food and Outreach, Lakeside Fellowship, Operation Hope, Our Father's Table, Salvation Army, St. Helen's Catholic Church, Temple of Truth, and The Source.
