Welcomed like family

"We love The Source!"

The Parkers are a beautiful family of six:
Matt and Sheena
Jared, 16
Jaime, 9
David, 6
Sheena Lee, 16 mo.

They arrived at The Source homeless and penniless. We helped them with job referrals, housing assistance and more. We were able to get them off the street and on their feet.

I visited the Parker Family in their home on a Saturday morning. Sheena was very happy to share with me about how she felt about The Source.

“The Source to me is a Godsend. It really is. And I think Ms. Gaye can move mountains with her smile. There’s nothin’ that woman cannot do. She is great.

“When I came to The Source I realized how many homeless people there was in Vero, and I felt like I was taking away from them. But everyone from The Source said don’t feel that way, that that’s God’s wish for them to help me. I guess they seen somethin’ in us that told them that we were real, and that we weren’t just trying to get something from them, and that we needed help.

“I love it. I love The Source. They should have Sources all over the world. They really should. I don’t know if Ms. Gaye can split herself that thin though.

“There’s not enough words to describe The Source. The people there, they just opened up their arms and welcomed us in, you know, like we were part of the family. It’s great. I love it. And there’s been a couple times we were a little bit late for lunch. Harry’s still got some food put up for us.

The Parkers are a beautiful family of six.“It’s like a home away from home. If you ever need somewhere to go, just go to The Source. Whatever, just to sit, hang out, talk, you know, whatever. They’re there for whatever you need. Socks, diapers, brushes, you name it. They can help you with anything, anything. I really believe that. I’ll bet you if I went to Ms. Gaye right now she’d get that van registered! I bet you she would. She’d pull her strings and she’d get it done. I think I need to do that on Monday.

“I’m blessed. I’m blessed in so many ways. I really am. Even though when things get so down and out and I’m really sad and upset. I think about how worse it could be, how many people do have it worse than me, and then I look at what I’ve got.”
