April 2007
Michelle's life has changed dramatically since coming to The Source. She is now married to her boyfriend of many years, they are self-employed, and own a home of their own. Michelle shared her testimony at the 6th Annual Night of Hope.
Michelle Speaks
On the first day that I came to The Source I was financially at the end of my rope. I was hungry, tired, alone, and desperate. I was struggling with my drug addiction, and even in my poverty, my addictions were still talking to me. “You need a drink. Just get high. Forget about your problems.”
But someone told me about a place called The Source. “You can go there and get something to eat, and they might be able to help you find shelter. So I went there, not knowing that it would be so much more to me than just a meal and a place to rest.
The Big Question
I filled out a questionnaire that asked me a few general questions. But the most important question it asked me was, “Would you like to speak with someone about knowing Jesus Christ?” I checked yes. The ministers prayed with me and for me, and then there was a Bible study.
On that very day I gave myself to Jesus and started coming to Bible study every day. The example of how Christians who love God and love people who are hungry, homeless, alcoholic, drug addicted, desperate, and in need were treated with respect and kindness drew me closer and closer to Jesus. I wanted what they had. I wanted to live more like them, act more like them, and love others like them.
Through renewed faith in Christ Jesus and a good example of true Christian discipleship, The Source has helped me to reshape my future. I was given so much more than food and a place to stay. I now have a soul-saving relationship with Jesus Christ and brothers and sisters in Christ who love me. I came to The Source for a meal, and I was given the Bread of Life. I came for a shower, and I was washed in the blood of the Lamb. At the end of my rope I found hope.
Thank you Source Jesus for this wonderful ministry. But most of all I thank God for blessing all of you to be a blessing for so many others.
