Compassion Encourages

“What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise” ~ Oscar Wilde

When Almarie arrived at The Source she was pregnant with her third child. She and her family struggled financially while she was on maternity leave. Her husband was unemployed, and they were hardly making ends meet. With two children to provide for and another on the way, surviving seemed to get harder and harder for them.

Almarie would often come to The Source for the food pantry and church services. She also visited our ministry counselors for support and encouragement. “I came for a box of food and I left with a box of hope,” says Almarie.

Almarie realized that her current job would never get her ahead, so she decided to go back to school to get her RN License. Almarie was diligent and determined to finish school, but she needed to overcome one more hurdle – how would she pay for her state license? Our Ministry Director, Pastor George Lynch, contacted one of our community partners and thanks to their support… The paper you see Almarie holding is her RN License!!

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11

What a wonderful testimony! As I listened to Almarie share her story I am reminded of the courage necessary to make that bold move that would change your life and that Christ gives us an opportunity in the midst of impossibility. Together we celebrate her accomplishment. Because of your faithful donations, the desperate find hope and the power to change. Thank you so much!
